The dietetic internship is a 44-week program. The 2018-2019 class begins on
August 13, 2018 and ends on June 14, 2019. The
dietetic interns complete a series of rotations in
management, clinical, and community areas in addition to
earning 9 hours of graduate credit in the College of
Public Health and Carver College of Medicine.

dietetic internship is a rigorous educational experience. The 9 hours of graduate study
combined with 10 months of clinical experience result in an intensive
program that requires study and class time beyond the usual 40-hour work
week.
During the fall semester, graduate
classes are on Mondays and Wednesdays and supervised
practice is on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. The
workweek consists of a minimum of 24 hours during the
first semester.
During the spring semester,
supervised practice is Monday through Friday with
graduate classes in the late afternoon/early evening.
The workweek consists of a minimum of 40 hours during
the second semester.
Dietetic interns typically are not
scheduled for a weekend but may be scheduled on
occasion. Interns are given work days off for
weekend days worked on a one-to-one basis.
Dietetic interns are given four
days of personal leave for illness, funeral, personal
time, interviewing, etc. Personal days must be
approved prior to use (excluding illness or emergency)
through the dietetic internship director and preceptor.

Thursday (Thanksgiving)- Sunday
Christmas/New Year:
December 23-January 2 (variations may occur depending on
how the holiday falls)
Martin Luther King:
Saturday- Monday (Martin Luther King day)
Spring Break: One
week University Spring Break
Memorial Day:
Saturday- Monday (Memorial Day)
