One SurePath collection vial with detached dacron or polyester-tipped swab or Cervex-brush(broom)head in proprietary fixative solution.

Anal Pap test specimens fixed in formalin or placed in a specimen container other than SurePath collection vials are not acceptable.
Deliver to Cytopathology laboratory (5222 RCP) immediately after collection. Deliver fresh to the lab in SurePath Fluid Collection Vial, labeled with patient name, hospital number, and specimen source. After 1700 daily, weekends and holidays deliver to Specimen Control (6240 RCP).

The pathologist will provide an interpretative report.
Normal result is: negative for intraepithelial lesion or malignancy.
Anal/Cervical/Endocervical/Vaginal cells collected in a preservative fluid, automated liquid based preparation (SurePath collection fluid).
Pap Smear, Cervical/Vaginal Smear
The sample container (SurePath vial) should contain the detached head of the brush or swab. Collection kits (SurePath) are available from Processed Stores.
