Minimum:
Preferred Minimum: 4 mL whole blood in pink top K2EDTA tube
Absolute Minimum: 0.5 mL whole blood in pink top K2EDTA tube
Rejection Criteria:
Frozen or refrigerated specimens. Specimens older than 72 hours. Clotted or hemolyzed specimens. Collect Monday through Thursday only; do not collect on Fridays, day before a holiday, or weekends.
Delivery Instructions:
Deliver to laboratory immediately after collection.
Turn Around Time:
1-3 days upon receipt at reference laboratory.

HLA-B27 is a serologically-defined allele of the human HLA-B locus. The presence of the HLA-B27 antigen is strongly associated with ankylosing spondylitis and related disorders.
