Send at room temperature and DO NOT put the
sample in the pneumatic tube system.
Full draw of 2.7 mL light blue (or TWO 1.8 mL) Sodium Citrate tubes.
Hand deliver to laboratory within 2 hours of collection.
24 hrs/day, 7 days a week, including holidays.
2 hours (upon receipt in laboratory)
Collagen/Epinephrine = 66-169 secs.
Collagen/ADP = 67-120 secs.
This test needs a separate tube! It CANNOT be done with any other
Citrated blood is forced through a capillary system to a membrane with
a central aperature coated with collagen and either epinephrine or
ADP. The time required to obtain full occlusion of the aperture by a
platelet plug is the closure time and is reported in seconds.
