Specimen:
Peripheral Blood, Bone Marrow, or CSF
Collection Medium:
Yellow top tube (ACD solution A)
Alternate Collection Media:
Green top tube 4 mL (Na Heparin), Lavender top tube 3 mL (EDTA)
Minimum:
Adult - Peripheral Blood: 10 mL; Bone Marrow: 2-4 mL Pediatric - Peripheral Blood: 2-5 mL; Bone Marrow: 2-5 mL CSF - Volume required is cell count dependent. Provide as much CSF specimen as possible in the original CSF collection tube(s).
Delivery Instructions:
Keep at room temperature. Do not refrigerate. Send to tube station #260 or deliver to Specimen Control, 6240 RCP.
Testing Schedule:
0800-1630 Monday through Friday. For additional services, contact Clinical Pathology Resident on-call at pager #3404.

Reference Range:
Antibodies routinely included are: CD2, CD3, CD7, CD10, CD13, CD14, CD19, CD33, CD34, CD38, CD45, CD46, CD56, CD64, CD117, HLA-DR, Kappa, Lambda, Glycophorin A, and Tdt as needed. Additional antibodies are added as necessary for diagnosis after morphologic examination. The pathologist will provide an interpretative report.
Comments:
Specimens accepted from Monday 0800 until Friday 1630. Include pertinent clinical information on the requisition. Additional antibodies may be necessary for diagnosis.
Test Limitations:
Specimens with absolute lymphocyte counts of <100/mm3 will not be tested. Recent corticosteroid or chemotherapy may invalidate result.
