Aspirated Knee/Joint/Cyst

Specimen
Fluid
Minimum:
1 mL fluid aspirated from joints, cysts, masses, or breast lesions.
Delivery Instructions:
Deliver to laboratory immediately after collection.
Testing Schedule:
The requisition with complete patient history must accompany the 
specimen. Between 0800-1700, cap and label with patients name the 
syringe into which it was aspirated and deliver promptly to the 
laboratory fresh. Do NOT make smears.  After 1700 daily, weekends and 
holidays transfer specimen to Vacutainer tube, label with patient name 
and deliver to Specimen Control (6240 RCP).
Analytic Time:
2 days
Reference Range:
The pathologist will provide an interpretative report.
