Supply order: Supply Order Form
Billing: Billing Policies
CPT code: 85380
Specimen(s):
Citrated Plasma More information
Collection Medium:
Light Blue top tube 1.8 mL (Na Citrate)
Minimum:
Full draw; 1.8 mL in light blue-top (3.2% sodium citrate) tube. Mix well.
Testing Schedule:
24 hrs/day, 7 days a week, including holidays.
Turn Around Time:
1 hour (upon receipt in laboratory)
Reference Range:
<0.50 mg/L Fibrinogen Equivalent Units (FEU)
Comments:
D-dimer units of measurement are mg/L FEU, where FEU = fibrinogen equivalent units. In conjunction with a non-high clinical probability assessment, a D-dimer result below the accepted cut-off (< 0.5 mg/L FEU) excludes deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism with high sensitivity. D-dimer values above the reference range (> 1.14 mg/L FEU) are not specific and may be seen in deep venous thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, disseminated intravascular coagulation, fibrinolysis, recent surgery, active bleeding, hematomas, trauma, pregnancy, liver disease, inflammation, and malignancy.

Updated to Siemens Innovance D-Dimer assay on 7/14/2020
