This test is a pathologist's examination of an air-dried wright-stained slide prepared on a cytospin. The specific reason for the examination must be noted on the requisition. A written interpretation by a pathologist is reported by computer. Specimens suspicious for malignancy should be confirmed with pap stained millipore cytology or tissue biopsy. These slides are held in a permanent file for future reference. A CSF Cell Count is necessary to order this test.

Transport Instructions:
Place labeled specimen into zip-lock type biohazard bag; seal
bag.
Place requisition into outside pocket of bag.
Transport in cooler with refrigerated coolant packs.
