An unexpected issue has been discovered that impacted some plasma/serum sodium and chloride measurements in the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC) core laboratory between 4:00am – 10:00am on Wednesday, June 28th, 2023. The laboratory has retested all potentially affected samples and error corrected affected results in Epic.

For those samples affected, the erroneous sodium and chloride values are, on average, about 7 mEq/L higher than the actual values.
