Delays Affecting Respiratory Virus Cascading Panel Testing

Due to multiple, on-going issues with supply chain, delivery of the GenMark Eplex Respiratory Panel, which is the test underlying UIHC’s Respiratory Pathogen Panel (Epic LAB8656), has been delayed.

Orders for this panel or the Respiratory Virus Cascading Panel (LAB8657) will be converted to orders for a smaller panel containing COVID-19, Influenza A/B and RSV and the results will be posted in Epic via an interfaced instrument. In Epic, the lab will cancel the Respiratory Pathogen Panel and reorder as RSV Panel (Epic LAB9070).

Results for the following will not be available until the supply of GenMark Eplex Respiratory Panel arrives, which is expected on January 5 (assuming no further delivery delays).

Analytes on the panel which are not on the smaller replacement panel (Parainfluenza 1, 2, 3, and 4; endemic non-SARS-CoV-2 Coronaviruses, Adenovirus, Human Metapneumovirus, Human Rhinovirus/Enterovirus, Chlamydia pneumoniae and Mycoplasma pneumoniae) will be temporarily unavailable in panel form.  Mycoplasma pneumoniae testing is available separately as “Mycoplasma PCR”, Epic order LAB8573.
