Starting today, August 24th, 2021, we will resume in-house testing for rapid plasma reagin (RPR).  Testing had been temporarily mailed out to ARUP Laboratories due to a nationwide reagent shortage.  Results will now be available within 24 hours of specimen receipt in the laboratory.  Note that this testing change requires a specimen type change to a plasma separator tube (PST).

The following tests are affected:

Syphilis Total with Reflex Confirmation [LAB8631] – positive syphilis total antibodies reflexes to RPR
Syphilis Treatment Follow Up (RPR Only) [LAB8648]
Rapid Plasma Reagin with Reflex Confirmation [LAB8647] – positive RPR reflexes to TPPA
