The shortage of reagent for performing capillary blood testing at the main hospital, IRL, and outlying clinics will continue for the foreseeable future.  This testing will continue to be sent to a reference laboratory with anticipated turnaround time of 1 – 3 days from sample receipt at the reference laboratory.

For pediatric patients, please order LEAD, WHOLE BLOOD, CAPILLARY BY ICP-MS [LAB9114] and collect capillary blood in a capillary lavender EDTA tube (0.5 mL blood required). 

For adults, please order LEAD, WHOLE BLOOD, VENOUS CONFIRMATION BY ICP-MS [LAB7479] and collect venous blood in a royal blue EDTA tube.
