Change in CLOtest Point of Care Assay for H. Pylori Diagnosis
Due to manufacturing issues and our current supply of Clotest expiring at the end of the month, as of Thursday, April 1st, there will be minor changes in the collection of tissue biopsy for the “Helicobacter Clotest” (Epic LAB2224) as we have switched vendors. The new test is called Hpfast, however, the orderable test in EPIC will remain the same. Microbiology will continue to be the supplier of Clotest for each clinic. Please return your unused supply of Clotest and pick-up the new test at the Microbiology Lab (BT 6004) this week. See description of additional changes below.
- Reagent - Trays should be stored at 2-8° C. Test should have a light peach or yellow color prior to patient testing. Any other color should be discarded and not used for testing.
- Each tray includes a biopsy pick which can be obtained by squeezing the tray from both sides. Pick is designed with a needle tip on one end and spatula to remove the specimen from the forceps.

- Peel back the label and place specimen on top of the agar. Use the reverse end of the biopsy pick to insert the specimen deep into the agar gel. Tissue should be exposed to as much agar as possible.
- Reseal the test by firmly pressing the label back in place. Failure to reseal the test may result in evaporation of contents.
- Apply patient label with time of collection noted.
- Transport test to microbiology lab following your current practices.
- Results will appear in Chart Review as they currently do.
