Changes in Pediatric Reference Ranges for Alkaline Phospatase
Effective today, May 23, 2017, the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC) Clinical Chemistry laboratory changed the age- and gender-specific reference ranges for ALKALINE PHOSPHATASE (LAB112). This updates pediatric ranges to newly validated and standardized values. Adult reference ranges are unchanged.
The new reference values are summarized in the table:
Age | Male reference range (U/L) | Female reference range (U/L) |
0 -14 days | 83 - 248 | 83 - 248 |
15 days - 12 months old | 122 - 469 | 122 - 469 |
1 - 9 years | 142 - 335 | 142 - 335 |
10 - 12 years | 129 - 417 | 129 - 417 |
13 - 14 years | 116 - 468 | 57 - 254 |
15 - 16 years | 82 - 331 | 50 - 117 |
