Effective today, January 27, 2015, the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC) core laboratory will change the adult (18 years and older) reference range for plasma CO2 to the following:

            22-29 mEq/L

This new range is from the package insert of the FDA-approved assay used to measure CO2.

This affects the following tests and test panels:

These changes do NOT impact arterial, venous, or capillary blood gas reference ranges.
