Effective October 20, 2015, the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics core clinical chemistry laboratory began performing the BILE ACIDS, TOTAL (LAB2713) test in-house.  This test was previously a mailout to an external reference laboratory.  The methodology (Diazyme assay run on Roche Diagnostics cobas instruments), specimen requirements, and reference range are unaffected by this change.

The assay is available 24 hours/day, 7 days a week (including holidays) with one hour turnaround time following receipt of specimen in the laboratory.
