Tube Change for yellow urine "No-Additive" tube

Effective Wednesday, May 14, 2014, there will be a change in the yellow urine ‘no-additive’ tube used by the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics core clinical laboratory.  The shape of tube shifts from conical to round bottom.  This change will allow urine tubes to be processed and archived by automated instruments, improving turnaround time of laboratory testing and minimizing manual manipulation of specimens.

The current product will be replaced in hospital stores by the new product.  The tube change is summarized in the image below:
