Surgical Pathology has been receiving an increased number of specimens without a specimen source written on the specimen container.  Adequate labeling of the specimen container with specimen source is necessary to ensure proper specimen processing. In cases with multiple specimens, labeling specimen containers with specimen source is absolutely required to ensure that the specimen sources and diagnoses are matched correctly.  Entering the specimen source in Epic in your Surgical Pathology Consultation order is insufficient in these cases.
