Changes to EML4/ALK; Testing Available in the Immunopathology Laboratory

Effective August 20, 2012, EML4 ALK FISH testing will be provided in the Immunopathology Laboratory by the Department of Pathology and replace ALK FISHmail-out test.

Intended use: The Vysis ALK Break Apart FISH Probe Kit is a qualitative test to detect rearrangements involving the ALK gene via fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) in non-small cell lung cancer tissue specimens to aid in identifying those patients eligible for treatment with XALKORI® (crizontinib).  The test is for prescription use only.

Specimen type: tumor tissue (formalin fixed paraffin embedded)
