Changes in Urine Electrophoresis Orders in Epic

Effective Tuesday, May 1, 2012, there will be a change in ordering urine electrophoresis in Epic.  The major change is that three tests will be orderable as order panels instead of discrete tests.  The changes are as follows:

Order:  URINE PROTEIN ELECTROPHORESIS panel includes:
Protein Electrophoresis, Urine (UPEP) [Epic # LAB892]
            Protein-Urine, Random [Epic # LAB845]

Order:  URINE IMMUNOFIXATION ELECTROPHORESIS panel includes:
Immunofixation Electrophoresis Urine (UIFE) [Epic # LAB960]
            Protein-Urine, Random [Epic # LAB845]

Order:  URINE PROTEIN ELECTROPHORESIS, TIMED panel includes:
Protein Electrophoresis, Timed 24 hour, Urine (UPEP-24 Hr) [Epic # LAB962]
            Protein-Urine, 24 hr [Epic # LAB891]

Screenshots of what the order panels will look like in Epic are below:

Existing Epic order sets will be updated to the new order names.  Specimen requirements and methodology for electrophoresis will not change.  These changes are to optimize ordering, including on inpatient units using paperless order flow.
