The Clinical Chemistry Laboratory will be offering an in-house assay for hepatitis A total antibodies (IgG & IgM) starting Tuesday, January 11, 2011.  Previously this test was available only as a send-out test.

The assay will be orderable in Epic as "HEPATITIS A ANTIBODY (G&M)" [Epic #LAB620].  The specimen type is light-green top tube (lithium heparin plasma separator) – 5 mL whole blood from one light green tube (adults) or TWO light green top microtubes (pediatric patients).

The test will be available 24 hours/day, 7 days a week (including holidays) with a turnaround time of 2 hours upon receipt in laboratory.
