Pneumatic Tube Delivery of Blood Components

In order to provide more timely service and improved efficiency, the Blood Bank has been working with Nurse Managers to dispense blood components directly to patient care areas via the Swiss Log pneumatic tube system. This transition has been well received and is now complete. Effectively immediately the Critical Care Lab will no longer be involved in dispensing blood components. In the event that the pneumatic tube system is not operational, a representative from the patient care area will need to come to the Blood Bank located at C271 GH to pick up blood components.

The units of O Negative blood for emergency release will still be maintained in the Critical Care Lab.
