As of February 4, 2009, the Molecular Pathology Laboratory will provide Human Papillomavirus (HPV) detection of high risk HPV using a signal amplification method (Hologic, Inc. Invader assay) for the qualitative detection of HPV genotypes 16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 66, and 68 which are associated with cervical cancer and its precursor lesions. The test has been verified using SurePath liquid based cytology and biopsy specimens.
