Fetal Erythrocyte Detection/Quantitation: Temporary Shift to Mailout Testing

Due to a temporary interruption in reagent supply, flow cytometric detection/quantitation for fetal erythrocytes will be referred to a reference laboratory for results beginning 9/23/09. Samples delivered to Immunopathology will be routed to Commercial Mailouts for shipment.

Sample requirements remain the same: 4 mL lavender (EDTA) or pink (K2 EDTA). Absolute minimum: 1 mL whole blood.

Cord blood samples are not an acceptable sample type.

Samples must reach Commercial Mailouts M-F by 13:00. (No weekend or holiday service) Turn around time at reference laboratory: 2 days upon receipt.

As soon as reagent supply is restored, local testing will resume. Questions may be directed to Dr. John Kemp at 4-9611 or Lisa Horning at 6-2846.
