As of January 26, 2009, the Clinical Chemistry laboratories at the University Hospital and VA Hospital will no longer offer CK-MB determinations. Total CK will continue to be performed. CK-MB has been superseded by Troponin which is a much better test (see Saenger AK and Jaffe AS, Circulation 118: 2200-06, 2008). Orders for CK-MB after this date will not be processed.
