Beginning February 19, 2007 the Core Laboratory will be changing the urinalysis procedure to utilize a more automated method. As a result, ordering of a urinalysis will change. You will be able to order either a urinalysis screen (which is a dipstick examination only) or a urinalysis with a microscopic examination. There will no longer be a urinalysis screen with a reflexed microscopic examination. Since old laboratory requisitions will still be in circulation for a while, any requests that are received for a urinalysis screen with a reflexed microscopic examination will be treated as orders for a urinalysis with a microscopic examination.
