New Tube Type for Troponin

Beginning 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2006, we will introduce a new Troponin T reagent formulation.  This formulation allows heparinized (green top) samples to be used.  Beginning on Thursday, ONLY heparinized samples will be acceptable for Troponin assays.  Serum tubes will not be acceptable.  This is a change from current practice and will allow the laboratory to provide better turnaround time by eliminating the need for the sample to clot before assaying.  Reference ranges and other requirements remain the same.  Questions to Ronald Feld, Ph.D., at 6-1759.
