New Prolactin Assay

Beginning Monday, July 24, 2006, the Clinical Chemistry Laboratory will institute a new generation of Prolactin assay which is less susceptible to interference by macroprolactin. All elevated samples will still be tested for the presence of macroprolactin. The new assay necessitates a change in reference ranges. The range for males is now 4.0-15.2 ng/ml and the range for females is now 4.8-23.3 ng/mL. Questions may be directed to Ronald Feld, Ph.D. at 6-1756.
