Automatic Cancellation of Measured LDL Cholesterol

Due to Medicare payment rules, a measured LDL cholesterol will not be reimbursed if the triglyceride is <400 mg/dL. Beginning Monday, February 20, 2006 at 9:00 a.m., the laboratory will automatically cancel measured LDL cholesterol values ordered with total cholesterol, triglyceride, and HDL cholesterol if the triglyceride value is < 400 mg/dL. A measured LDL cholesterol value will be performed if it ordered without the triglyceride.
