On June 17, 2005, Roche Diagnostics issued a notice regarding the lot of reagents (17190400) used for the quantitative HCV RNA PCR assay.  This lot of reagents has been in use at UIHC since 5/12/2005.  The reagents systematically underquantify HCV RNA titers by 0.3-0.5 log.  When new and valid reagents for this test are received (expected the week of June 27^th), all specimens that yielded positive results with the problem reagents will be retested at no cost to the patient.
