New Tube Type for Most Routine Chemistry Tests

Specimen requirements for most routine Chemistry tests will change to PST (light green) from SST (gold top). All tests that required SST can be done in PST except: Folate (folic acid), Troponin T, Serum Protein Electrophoresis and Immunofixation Electrophoresis. These tests should now be drawn in a red top tube. All tests currently drawn in red top will continue to be drawn in red tops. The hospital stories number is MH9034. For more information on this change please refer to the New Plasma Tube Type for Routine Chemistry Test appendix in Pathology Laboratory Service Handbook.
