Beginning on May 24, 2004, the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory will be changing the brand of blood culture bottles that will be used in this institution.  The following is a list of the new manufacturer numbers:

AEROBIC BLOOD CULTURE BOTTLE	MH09159
ANAEROBIC BLOOD CULTURE BOTTLE	MH09160
BD TRANSFER DEVICE	MH09008

The aerobic bottles are labelled “PLUS + Aerobic/F.”  The anaerobic bottles are labelled “Lytic/10 Anaerobic/F.”

These changes will not affect the manner in which blood cultures are drawn in the patient care areas.  However, the new aerobic and new anaerobic bottles should be used together as a set.
