Charge for Confirmations of Positive Drugs
The Beginning Monday, January 27, 2003, the Department of Pathology will begin to charge for confirmations of positive drugs obtained on the urine drug screen. The confirmations are sent to a commercial laboratory for confirmation by gas chromatography – mass spectrometry. Currently, the following drugs are automatically sent for confirmation – amphetamine, methamphetamine, PCP, opiates, barbiturates, and cocaine. In addition, confirmations for other drugs can be sent on request. Each confirmation carries a charge of about $100.00. Therefore, if three drugs are positive, the confirmation charge will be $300.00. If you do not wish automatic confirmation, please write on the requisition “NO CONFIRMATION”.
