Serum Immunofixation Electrophoresis Testing

Effective June 19, 2002, serum immunofixation electrophoresis testing will be performed in the Clinical Chemistry Laboratory on a new instrument. This replaces testing done in the Immunopathology Laboratory. The sensitivity and specificity of the two methods appear to be comparable. The test will be performed on Tuesdays and Fridays. Urine immunofixation electrophoresis will continue to be performed in the Immunopathology Laboratory until test validation is completed.
