Potential Changes in Gynecological Cytology (Pap Test) Turn Around Time

Beginning November 1, 2001, there will be a decrease in cytotechnologist staff in the cytology laboratory from 75% to 50% of full staffing. This will likely result in a significant increase in turn around time for Pap tests. Non-gynecological cytology specimens will not be affected.

Although we expect this to be a temporary situation, we are trying to recruit in a period where there is a national shortage of cytotechnologists. As always, any urgent patient care needs will continue to be addressed as quickly as possible.
