Effective July 30, 2001, the two Hepatitis B Virus DNA detection methods by PCR (qualitative and quantitative) are being discontinued by our reference lab (ARUP). These tests are being replaced by a single Hepatitis B Virus DNA Ultrasensitive Quantitative PCR method.

Therefore, a request for either the qualitative or quantitative test will result in a quantitative result. This test will continue to be sent to the reference lab and all requirements will remain the same.
