Requires a concurrent order for Serum Creatinine (LAB66). See comments below. Record date and time of collection on requisition. Submit entire urine collection.

Collection Medium:

Plasma Separator Tube 4.5 mL	and	Urine - 24 hour/timed plastic urine container

Alternate Collection Media:

Call laboratory for additional acceptable specimen collection containers.

Minimum:

3 mL whole blood in plasma separator tube and 24 hr urine with no preservative

Testing Schedule:

24 hrs/day, 7 days a week, including holidays.

Turn Around Time:

3 hours (upon receipt in laboratory)

Reference Range:

80-120 mL/min

Comments:

An order for Serum Creatinine (LAB66) must be ordered and collected during the 24 hour urine collection for the laboratory to calculate the Creatinine Clearance. External results will NOT be utilized for the calculation of this component. The plasma creatinine must be collected at some time during the 24 hr urine collection for the creatinine clearance to be calculated.

Not corrected for body surface area. Collection other than 24 hr will not be calculated for G/24 hr. mg/dL and clearance will be calculated on any accurately timed urine. Call lab for nomogram for body surface determination.
