Specimen(s):

Whole Blood

Specimen Instructions:

Keep whole blood at room temperature and separate serum within two hours of collection by centrifugation. Transfer serum to a polypropylene tube suitable for shipping (screw cap). If sample can be delivered within 24 hours to the reference laboratory, keep the serum at room temperature. Freeze and store serum at -20°C or colder and ship frozen on dry ice.

Collection Medium:

BD Gold SST 5 mL Vacutainer

Minimum:

Collect in: Full Gold SST tube. This test needs its own dedicated tube and cannot be shared with any other test. Please submit full draw.

Rejection Criteria:

Whole blood not separated within two hours of collection. Refrigerated sample. Frozen serum thawed before it can reach the reference laboratory. Serum at ambient temperatures for > 24 hours. Serum stored in polystyrene tube.

Testing Schedule:

Collect Monday-Thursday; No weekends, No holiday, or No day before holiday. For Friday collection, contact Mailouts @ 356-8593.
