Prior to collection, the patient should not have urinated for at
least 1 hour and should not have cleansed the genital area (female
patient) or the tip of the penis (male patient).

Minimum:
Collect 10 mL urine in a sterile (yellow top tube, 924044 OR
leak-proof container, 37777). Samples should be stored at
2-8°C until delivery to Microbiology Laboratory.

Rejection Criteria:
Specimen not received within 24 hours of collection. Gray top C&S
tubes will be rejected for Trichomonas PCR.
Testing Schedule:
24 hrs/day, 7 days a week, including holidays.
