Comments:
Usual results are less than 21 ng/mL. Results up to 10,000 ng/mL may be seen with mild muscle injury, strenuous exercise, and myocardial infarction. Patients with urine myoglobin exceeding 10,000 ng/mL are at risk of acute renal failure. Renal toxicity depends on multiple factors such as renal perfusion rate and degree of urine acidity. Some metabolic disorders can lead to very high concentrations of myoglobin in urine. Elevated urine excretion of myoglobin is not specific for a clinical disorder.
