Specimen Instructions:
Parallel testing is preferred and convalescent specimens must be received within 30 days of the acute specimens. Mark specimen plainly as acute or convalescent.
Collection Medium:
Red top tube 5 mL (Clot Activator)
Minimum:
Preferred Minimum: 0.5 mL serum
Absolute Minimum: 0.15 mL serum
Rejection Criteria:
Plasma. Bacterially contaminated, heat-inactivated, hemolyzed, icteric, lipemic, or turbid specimens.
Turn Around Time:
1-8 days upon receipt at reference laboratory
Reference Range:
1.0 IV or less: Negative - No significant level of Trypanosoma cruzi IgG antibody detected.

1.1 IV: Equivocal - Questionable presence of Trypanosoma cruzi IgG antibody detected. Repeat testing in 10-14 days may be helpful.

1.2 IV or greater: Positive - IgG antibodies to Trypanosoma cruzi detected, which may suggest current or past infection.
Interpretive Data:
This assay should not be used for blood donor screening or associated re-entry protocols, or for screening Human Cell and Cellular Tissue-Based Products (HCT/Ps).
