Specimen Instructions:
Collect: Urine and submit to Core Laboratory as soon as possible. The Core Laboratory will add the urine to the Aptima combo assay transport media for the submission to the reference laboratory. This transfer to media MUST be done within 24 hour of collection of specimen/urine.

Specimens must be transported in the manufacturer's test specific kit.
Collection Medium:
Yellow top round bottom tube (no additive)
Minimum:
Absolute Minimum: 2 mL random urine
Rejection Criteria:
Urine samples not in APTIMA® transport tube. Urine samples submitted will be transferred to Aptima tube for submission to reference laboratory.
Turn Around Time:
1-2 days upon receipt at reference laboratory

Chlamydia trachomatis by Transcription-Mediated Amplification (TMA) - Negative
Neisseria gonorrhoeae by Transcription-Mediated Amplification (TMA) - Negative
Interpretive Data:
Per 2014 CDC recommendations, this test does not include confirmation of positive results by an alternative nucleic acid target.

This test is intended for medical purposes only and is not valid for the evaluation of suspected sexual abuse or for other forensic purposes. In certain contexts, culture may be required to meet applicable laws and regulations for diagnosis of C. trachomatis and N. gonorrhoeae infections.
Comments:
Culture is recommended for Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae detection in cases of suspected sexual abuse or suspected failure of therapy.
