Specimen is stable for ONLY 1 hour at room temperature. Specimen is stable 2 weeks refrigerated or frozen.
Collection Medium:
Feces specimen, stool container
Minimum:
5 g stool in a clean, leak-proof container.
Absolute Minimum: 1 g stool
Rejection Criteria:
Samples preservatives other than Cary-Blair.
Delivery Instructions:
Submit specimen to laboratory as soon as possible after collection.
Testing Schedule:
24 hrs/day, 7 days a week, including holidays.
Turn Around Time:
1-2 days upon receipt at reference laboratory

Negative
Test Limitations:
A positive result is indicative of the presence of lactoferrin, a marker for fecal leukocytes. A negative result does not exclude the presence of intestinal inflammation.
