Interpretive Data:
Islet cell antibodies (ICAs) are associated with type 1 diabetes (T1D), an autoimmune endocrine disorder. These antibodies may be present in individuals years before the onset of clinical symptoms. To calculate Juvenile Diabetes Foundation (JDF) units: multiply the titer x 5 (1:8 8 x 5 = 40 JDF Units).
Test Limitations:
Islet cell antibodies have been associated with "autoimmune"
endocrine disorders and insulin-dependent diabetes. This disorder is
characterized by the presence of antibodies in patients that may be
detected years before the onset of the clinical symptoms.
To calculate Juvenile Diabetes Foundation (JDF) units: Multiple the
titer x 5.
  EXAMPLE: 1:8 8 x 5 = 40 JDF Units
Methodology:
Semi-Quantitative Indirect Fluorescent Antibody
