Critical Care Laboratory Information

The Critical Care Laboratory (CCL) relocated to the core laboratory (6240 RCP) in April 2015. The CCL is designed to provide laboratory support for patients in selected critical care areas. The limited number of tests available are performed rapidly (within 10 minutes of receipt of specimen) for these critically ill patients. Tests performed include: blood gases (PH, PCO2, PO2, calculated bicarbonate, base excess, total CO2), oxygen saturation, carboxyhemoglobin, methemoglobin, hemoglobin, hematocrit, sodium, potassium, osmolality, glucose, ionized calcium, lactate, and ACT.

Please read the instructions, in the Pathology Laboratory Services Handbook for the sample requirements before drawing. Special requests for service may be directed to Matthew Krasowski, MD, PhD, Director of the Critical Care Laboratory, at 384-9380. Inquiries may also be directed to Dena Voss, at 384-7240.
