Collect Copan Dual Swab. Swab the lower vagina, followed by the
rectum using the same swab.
Send to Microbiology. In cases where known Penicillin allergy is indicated, a reflex culture for susceptibilities will be set up if the PCR testing is positive for Group B Streptococcus.
In cases where a Penicillin allergy is discovered after initial screening for GBS is complete, culture and susceptibility testing can be added onto the original sample for 7 days by ordering LAB2328 - Group B Strep Culture.
