Preferred Minimum: 1 mL serum
Absolute Minimum: .5 mL serum
Whole blood. Gel separator tubes, light blue (citrate), or yellow (SPS or ACD solution).
Submit specimen to laboratory as soon as possible after collection.1-7 days upon receipt at reference laboratory.
Therapeutic Range: 1.0–10.0 ng/mL
Toxic: Greater than or equal to 15.0 ng/mL
The therapeutic range is based on serum pre-dose (trough) draw at steady-state concentration. Adverse effects to haloperidol therapy may include drowsiness, blurred vision, tardive dyskinesia, tachycardia, hypotension, and muscular rigidity.
