Turn Around
Time:
2-3 days upon receipt at reference laboratory
Interpretive Data:
Codons 457-630 of the UL97 gene and codons 393-1000 of the
UL54 gene are sequenced. Mutations associated with resistance to
ganciclovir, cidofovir, and foscarnet are reported. Mutations in viral
sub-populations below 20 percent of total may not be detected.
The results are not intended to be used as the sole means for clinical diagnosis or patient management decisions.

Comments:
This test determines antiviral drug resistance to cidofovir, foscarnet
sodium, and ganciclovir.
Note: This test may be unsuccessful if the plasma CMV DNA viral load is less than 1,500 CMV DNA copies per mL of plasma.
