Carcinoid
These rare tumors originate from hormone-producing cells of the intestines and lung most commonly. They have also been found in the pancreas testes, or ovaries. They produce serotonin, chromogranin-A, and other substances that can be detected in the blood or urine. These hormones may produce the carcinoid syndrome, which includes symptoms such as flushing, diarrhea, wheezing, rapid heart rate, heart murmur, and other symptoms.
