Choose the Radiologic Technology link from the side NavBar. This link will lead you to information about the RT program, including admission requirements and the application process, as well as application materials. Apply to the radiologic technology program. Once you have completed this program and have passed the national American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification examination you will be employable as a Radiologic Technologist.
This program may be used as a prerequisite for the cardiovascular interventional, medical sonography, nuclear medicine, radiation therapy, magnetic resonance imaging, and computed tomography education, and is also a component of the BS degree in radiation sciences.
The 2-year RT certificate program will accept its last class in July 2012, afterwhich it will be part of the Radiation Sciences degree.

If you are a high school student or an individual that is starting a new career? Begin by applying to the college of Liberal Arts. Select "radiation sciences" as your major are of interest. You will be assigned to a campus advisor familiar with radiation sciences that can best help with course choices and degree questions. During the first semester of your freshman year (October through December), complete an application to the 2-year radiologic technology program. The program begins in the summer after the freshman year. Upon completion of the RT program, admit to the College of Medicine, Radiation Sciences major, to complete both a specialty and any remaining degree requirements.
Are you planning to complete the first year of college at an institution other than the University of Iowa and then attend the UIHC radiologic technology program? Provide a list of the course requirements to the institution that you attend to determine if they offer equivalent courses. Confirm that the courses you take will transfer to UI equivalent to the course on the list. Consult the “I-Chart Transfer Planning Resource” or the “Transfer Course” guide. Call UI admissions counselors, 319-335-1566, with questions. During the first semester (October through December), complete an application to the radiologic technology program. The two-year UIHC program begins each summer. Upon completion of the RT program, you will admit to the College of Medicine, Radiation Sciences major to complete both a specialty and any remaining degree requirements.
Have you completed your radiology technology education at an institution other than UIHC and would like to transfer to the UI to complete the degree? Complete as many of the general education requirements as possible. Admit to the College of Medicine, Radiation Sciences major. Attend an orientation session. Complete both a specialty and any remaining degree requirements. Contact the Radiation Sciences program with questions.
